Meet the Artist
I’ve never been disappointed after painting for hours in a field or along the side of a mountain because there has always been a single breathless moment during that time when the world seems to stop, light fills the landscape and the sight before me glistens in a purity beyond words. That is the single moment when this light fills my soul and I connect with the greater power that created what appears before me. Plein-Air painting offers me a connectivity to the universe. To watch the shadows shift and change in mere moments makes me feel a part of this great circle of life. Mother nature never disappoints – even in the early morning mists, the approaching wind storm or blinding blizzard-she puts on quite a show. To try to capture a singular moment of this magnificence
will probably remain elusive in my lifetime. In the blink of my eye the scene changes and I can only remember the brilliance of the moment before. I strive to fill my canvas with such moments as to offer the viewer a rest from the mundane. Who does not remember driving along a concrete highway and seeing a beam of sunshine reflecting on a patch of wildflowers? ( I’ve been behind you as you swerve in distraction.) Surely just recollecting this type of moment brings a smile to your face. That is my intent – to bring a momentary smile to your face. As fleeting as the moment. About Patricia Sablak
She married David Korzec (the Polish boy from down the street) and they spent the next eighteen years living in numerous places-Palmer Mass, Waterford Ct, San Francisco CA (her absolute favorite) and San Rafael, CA. While in San Francisco she received a Graduate Certificate in Museum Programming from JFK University in Orinda, CA. When her marriage sadly ended in divorce she began to paint under her maiden name SABLAK. All her current work is signed in this manner. Patricia began to travel in the 1990’s to some of the places she had dreamed about as a child – Indonesia, Nepal (can you believe trekking?), Europe, and the Middle East. She makes frequent trips to Mexico where she basks in the color, music and life of the surroundings. In Spring of 2005 she will visit once again the gardens of Giverny in France (Claude Monet’s home) to paint. On weekends she can be found painting along the roadsides of Southern California, where she now resides. She has found a new energy for her paintings after an absence of nearly thirty years. Charitable Donation10% of all profits from the sale of Patricia Sablak Korzec’s paintings will be donated to Tia’s Arms, a non-profit organization bringing comfort to children who are the victims of Aids in South Africa. This organization was founded by one of her closest friends, Joanne Baker, whose remarkable life has been a source of inspiration to her. Please send a message to tias_arms@yahoo.com for more information about how these funds are used. Thank Yous
