Alaskan Visions
Denali, Glaciers, and more...

Joshua TreeI just returned from two weeks in Alaska where I was inspired by some of the most profound landscapes I have ever seen. I journeyed from Anchorage to Vancouver by car, boat and train! This time of year was especially brilliant with the pinkish red fireweed in full bloom, contrasting against the vibrant yellow leaves of the forests of birch trees. The mountdains surrounding Denali National Park were sparkling in deep shadows of purple, pink and blue. It was one of the most surreal color pallettes I have ever seen.

Here are nine original paintings I completed on the trip. I have a few more to touch up in the next few weeks and have already begun to paint larger paintings from these inspirational settings and from the numerous photos I took.

These paintings are a new technique for me. I drew the orginals in oil pastel and then painted regular oils over this. You can see the thickness of paint in the photos-they have a very "painterly effect". For ease  of transport I used a very thick, high quality watercolor paper instead of canvas board. All can be framed easily with a stock 8 x10 frame from Michaels, Aaron Brothers or other sources.
I am only charging $100 each for these originals. If you are interested please contact me immediately as I am showing these also in my gallery.

Oh, I forgot to mention this was the 50th state I have visited!  I saved the best for last.

Patricia
